Buying car insurance can be very confusing…and can sometimes feel like a bit of a mission. Here’s some key things to do (and not do!) to help make the whole process easier.
-
Don’t focus on the lowest premiums – look for benefits of the coverage instead
-
Don’t deceive the insurer. Be truthful when answering questions related to loss/accident history etc.
-
Remember background checks are made. If it turns out you haven’t told the truth, not only will premiums be revised, but claims will be refused in the event of a loss.
-
Don’t instantly opt for third party liability cover, see if a comprehensive policy would be better for you…and vice versa.
-
Ask for information about add-on covers like car hire extension, agency repairs, towing services, off-road use etc. Look out for age and territorial limits.
-
If you’re buying a used car which already has insurance, make sure you find out what the correct procedure is and find out if you are covered. Insurance from a used car is not always transferable.
-
Don’t under or over insure your vehicle. This might cause a dispute and delay your claim.
-
Remember to upload the required documents to enable us to issue your car insurance policy. You will need to send us images of the following:
-
UAE Driving License
-
Registration Card
-
Copy of Emirates ID
-
No claims Certificate if applicable
-
Don’t forget to renew your policy without any break
-
When you receive your policy, read the terms and conditions carefully to know what’s covered and what’s not. If anything is unclear, it’s always best to ask.
-
Always keep your policy number, roadside assistance number and claims number of your insurance provider on your mobile phone in case of any unfortunate events.
